SEPTA promotes transportation benefit programs
advertisement
The Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) is encouraging riders and employers to take advantage of transportation benefit programs.
SEPTA's "Commuter's Choice" program targets employers who want to provide transit discounts for their workers. Under Federal Tax Code 132F, employees who use a Commuter's Choice program can receive up to $245 per month as a tax-free benefit toward their transportation costs. The savings would cover the entire cost of SEPTA weekly and monthly passes, according to the agency.
Employers can benefit from the program, as well. Companies that offer a Commuter's Choice program to their workers can save up to $200 per employee in Federal Insurance Contributions Act-related taxes annually.
