SEPTA recognized for budget presentation

For the sixth consecutive year, the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority's (SEPTA) operating budget has been recognized for its “distinguished budget presentation” by the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) of the United States and Canada.
"The award recognizes the work we have done to improve the budget as a document that is detailed, understandable and accessible," said SEPTA Chief Financial Officer Richard Burnfield in a prepared statement. "We are striving to provide this information in a clear, concise and transparent manner."
Award recipients are required to meet nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation.
To meet the goals, SEPTA made several changes to its budget document, such as supplementing core data with charts and graphs to explain funding, revenue and expenses; and using geographic and demographic details to explain how the agency provides funding to local services.
The award places SEPTA among a "small group" of public transit agencies to be honored, SEPTA officials said.
