advertisement
For human-resource-related talent, Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) is looking both inside and outside the organization.
On Dec. 11, SEPTA named Susan Van Buren assistant general manager/chief human resource officer, and Juan Torres, assistant GM for public and government affairs.
Prior to joining SEPTA, Van Buren served as vice president of HR for financial services firm Creditek L.L.C. and HR director at Lucent Technologies. Van Buren, who has 22 years of HR experience, was the top-ranked candidate after a national search that presented 71 candidates, according to a prepared statement.
Torres, who has 20 years of SEPTA operations and management experience, started as a bus operator in the agency’s Suburban Transit Division. He subsequently rose through the operations ranks, becoming assistant GM for Subway-Elevated Operations before joining the HR division as senior director for business process redesign and organizational development. Torres most recently had been serving as acting assistant GM of public and government affairs, and acting HR officer.
