SEPTA to complete track-renewal project Labor Day Weekend

Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority plans Labor Day Weekend to finish laboring on its subway-surface trolley Route 36 when it completes a track renewal project that began four months ago.

Crews are replacing 1950s-era track with new continuous welded rails encased in a rubber boot, which is designed to reduce vibration and noise.

During the work, buses conveyed passengers to their destinations. Normal operation is slated to return Sept. 1.
