The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA) plans to begin construction Friday on the J Church light-rail line. The agency will replace worn pavement and rails in heavily traveled intersections and improve surrounding areas.
The $1 million project is part of a larger, $18 million rail improvement project that includes work on three Municipal Railway lines. In addition to track improvements, work will include upgrading overhead wire poles, new curb ramps and new signal priority devices.
“The SFMTA will continue to aggressively prioritize keeping Muni in a state of good repair in order to provide safe and reliable service to our customers,” said SFMTA Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer Nathanial Ford in a prepared statement.
