The South Florida Regional Transportation Authority (SFRTA) recently received national recognition for procurement and marketing initiatives.

SFRTA’s Procurement Department received the “Achievement of Excellence in Procurement” award from the National Purchasing Institute. The authority is one of only 21 government agencies in Florida and one of 26 special U.S. districts to receive the award, SFRTA officials said in a prepared statement. The authority has received the award four times.

In addition, SFRTA received two first place AdWheel Awards in the American Public Transportation Association’s annual competition, which recognizes marketing excellence among U.S. transit systems.

The AdWheel awards honored SFRTA’s Tri-Rail for a “Senior Idol” event and “Cleared for Takeoff” poster campaign, which promoted the railroad “as a convenient, economical way” to reach south Florida’s three international airports, according to the authority.
