SNCF awards $257 million high-capacity train contract to Bombardier
advertisement
Bombardier Transportation recently received a $257.6 million order for 73 Autorail Grande Capacite (AGC) high-capacity trains from French National Railways (SNCF).
Bombardier plans to build the trains in its Crespin plant, located in France’s Valenciennes region, and deliver them between November 2006 and November 2007. The order is an addition to a contract Bombardier obtained from SNCF in December 2001 for 500 AGC trains.
Available in several versions, AGC trains have a seating capacity ranging from 160 to 220, depending on the number of cars, and travel at a maximum speed of 99 mph. Wide car bodies, inter-circulation gangways and continuous low floors are designed to provide passengers better comfort, visibility and security.
