The Societe de transport de Montreal (STM) later this month will begin work to improve accessibility at Place-Saint-Henri Station in Montreal.
The project entails construction of two new entrance buildings that will replace the station’s underground entrances. The project will continue until fall 2023.
The project is part of a larger effort to make 41 stations accessible by 2025, STM officials said in a press release.
Meanwhile, STM last week issued a notice of default to EDT GCV Civil, the group contractor responsible for performing excavation and concrete work as part of construction of the Cote-Vertu metro train garage, following project delays.
STM gave the contractor five days from the date the notice was issued to solve a number of breaches of contract in order to control costs and limit schedule delays.
EDT GCV Civil was awarded a CA$130 million contract to perform the excavation and concrete work on the mainly underground garage, which was originally supposed to be completed in November 2019.
The CA$492.3 million Cote-Vertu garage project includes construction of an underground garage that will house 10 metro trains by 2022, and a new track switch that will allow STM to increase train frequency on the Orange Line.
EDT GCV Civil includes EBC Inc., Dragados Canada Inc. and Groupe TNT Inc.
