SacRT approves service cuts to fill budget gap
advertisement
The Sacramento Regional Transit District (SacRT) recently approved service changes due to an estimated $25 million budget shortfall for fiscal-year 2011.
The changes — which include eliminating light-rail and bus routes, as well as shortening existing routes and decreasing service frequency — will take effect June 20.
The changes are expected to save SacRT an estimated $11.6 million in FY2011. The agency will eliminate 28 weekday routes, 13 Saturday routes and four Sunday routes.
