In preparation for testing later this month, the Sacramento Regional Transit District (SacRT) last week activated the overhead catenary system for new light-rail tracks along its Blue Line to the Cosumnes River College (CRC) extension in the southern portion of Sacramento, Calif.

Test trains will begin operating between the Meadowview light-rail station and CRC later in May, and will continue until the opening of the Blue Line to the CRC extension in September, SacRT officials said in a press release.

The $270 million Blue Line to the CRC project will add 4.3 miles of light-rail tracks south of the Meadowview Station to a new station at CRC, and will include four new stations.

A five-level parking structure providing 2,016 parking spaces will be constructed alongside the CRC station, according to the project's website.
