Rail News: Passenger Rail

Sacramento agency hikes fares

Yesterday, the Sacramento Regional Transit District (SacRT) implemented a fare increase. The basic fare went up from $2.25 to $2.50 and discount fare rose from $1.10 to $1.25.

In addition light-rail passengers’ single ride tickets now are only valid for two hours after they’re issued.

The cost of a basic daily or monthly pass did not increase, remaining at $6 and $100, respectively. However, SacRT eliminated a lifetime pass, which previously provided free rides to passengers at age 75 or over. Those riders now can purchase a “Super Senior” monthly pass for $40.
