The San Diego Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) and Sycuan Casino have signed a naming rights agreement for the Green Line light-rail route.

The route will be renamed the Sycuan Green Line. The pact will generate up to $25.5 million in nonfare revenue for MTS operations over 30 years, agency officials said in a press release.

The 24-mile Sycuan Green Line serves 27 stations in the cities of Santee, El Cajon, La Mesa and San Diego, California. In addition to naming rights, Sycuan has received permission to operate bus shuttles to the casino from four MTS transit centers.

Sycuan also has the right to change the name of three MTS stations.

"The Sycuan Green Line agreement will be a sustainable revenue source that will be used exclusively to help maintain our level of service throughout San Diego," said MTS Chief Executive Officer Paul Jablonski.

The pact marks the second major naming rights agreement for MTS. In 2015, the agency's Blue Line was renamed the "UC San Diego Blue Line" as part of an agreement signed with UC San Diego Health.

Meanwhile, Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett announced that the Potawatomi Hotel and Casino has agreed to sponsor the Milwaukee Streetcar, which will be renamed "The Hop."

The deal includes $10 million to support operations and maintenance costs over 12 years, according to a post on the Milwaukee Streetcar's website. In addition, the sponsorship will enable the streetcar to provide free rides for the first year of operation.
