advertisement
San Francisco Municipal Railway recently awarded a contract to joint venture Parsons Brinckerhoff (PB) and PGH Wong Engineering Inc. to design the second phase of the Muni Metro Third Street light-rail extension.
A 1.7-mile tunnel alignment through downtown San Francisco, the Central Subway extension would run from Third and King streets to Chinatown, and include five stations.
PB and Wong Engineering will complete conceptual engineering, cost estimating and environmental impact analysis. The joint venture also will be responsible for project management; tunnel and underground station design; environmental funding; construction packaging and delivery; and systems, operations and maintenance issues, according to a prepared statement.
Conceptual and preliminary design is expected to be complete in 2005.
