On Wednesday, the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) elected Adrienne Tissier chairwoman and Amy Rein Worth, vice chairwoman of the agency, which oversees transportation planning, coordinating and financing for the nine-county San Francisco Bay area.

Tissier is a supervisor on the San Mateo County Board and serves on the San Mateo County Transit District’s Board. Worth is a member of the Orinda City, Calif., city council.

"My goals as MTC chair include ensuring the sustainability of Caltrain and making sure high-speed [rail] works for the peninsula," Tissier said in a prepared statement.

Also on Wednesday, the commission named the following new members who will serve four-year terms: Sam Liccardo, a member of the San Jose City Council; South San Francisco Mayor Kevin Mullin; Dave Cortese, a Santa Clara County supervisor; and Union City, Calif., Mayor Mark Green.
