Santa Clara VTA completes draft environmental report for BART extension
advertisement
The Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) recently completed the Draft Environmental Impact Statement for the Silicon Valley Rapid Transit Corridor. The agency will seek comments on the document at public hearings to be held next month.
The project calls for extending Bay Area Rapid Transit's (BART) heavy-rail system 16 miles into the Silicon Valley, terminating at a future Warm Springs Station in Fremont, Calif.
Last fall, Santa Clara County residents authorized a one-eighth-cent sales tax to fund the line's operations and maintenance. VTA will construct the corridor and BART will serve as operator.
