Santa Clara VTA continues to post ridership gains

The ridership climb continues at the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA). In January, the agency carried 3.6 million passengers on its light-rail and bus systems, up 7.5 percent compared with January 2008.
Monthly light-rail ridership rose 4.7 percent to 826,553. Weekday light-rail ridership averaged 31,368 passengers, a 5.9 percent increase vs. January 2008's total and the highest January light-rail average in the agency's history, VTA said.
