Santa Clara VTA revises transit service cuts
advertisement
Based on public feedback, the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) has revised its transit service reduction plan that will take effect Jan. 11, 2010. The plan calls for reducing light-rail and bus service by 6.5 percent and 8 percent, respectively.
The measures are expected to save $6.5 million, helping VTA address a $57 million budget deficit caused by declining state transit funds and sales tax revenue.
Among the light-rail service changes, VTA will discontinue certain Saturday and Sunday trips on the Alum Rock-Santa Teresa Line; revise various weekend trips on the Mountain View-Winchester Line; and reduce several weekend trips on the Ohlone/Chynoweth-Almaden Line.
