Seattle's First Hill Streetcar Line launched on Jan. 23 a promotional service period with free rides.

The "soft launch" will be followed by a grand opening in the coming weeks, according to an announcement on the Seattle Streetcar website.

The route runs through several Seattle neighborhoods, including Capitol Hill, First Hill, the Central District, Little Saigon, Chinatown-International District and Pioneer Square.

The First Hill Line was slated to open last year, but safety testing delayed operations for months, according to the Seattle Post-Intelligencer.
