Sound Transit soon will open its recently completed Operations and Maintenance Facility: East (OMF East) in in Bellevue, Washington.

The facility is a component of upcoming Link light-rail extensions to Northgate, Lynnwood, Federal Way and Redmond, Sound Transit officials said in a press release.

OMF East will accommodate the service, maintenance, storage and deployment of 96 light-rail vehicles. Up to 260 employees will staff the facility, which will operate 24/7.

OMF East has already begun storing new Series 2 light-rail vehicles from Siemens since the existing Operations and Maintenance Facility in Seattle is nearing capacity. New cars will continue arriving through 2024.
