Snohomish Deputy County Executive Joni Earl has been selected as Sound Transit’s first chief operating officer, responsible for overall agency administration and day-to-day operations.

Earl has 25 years' experience in public administration from Mill Creek city manager and Kitsap County director of internal management leading to deputy county executive — an office she’s held since 1992.

"Joni Earl’s exceptional hands-on management experience combined with her personal understanding of our region’s issues make her tailor-made to help keep Sound Transit moving forward," said Sound Transit Executive Director Bob White in a prepared statement.

Seattle-based Sound Transit is on schedule to implement three-county-wide regional transit system, Sound Move. The system’s plans comprise an 82-mile commuter rail, 22.6-mile Link light rail, and Regional Express, which includes 18 long-haul bus routes.
