Sound Transit seeks input on proposed Link extension's environmental impact

Sound Transit, the operator of Seattle's Link light-rail system, and the Federal Transit Administration are seeking public input on a draft environmental impact statement for the proposed Tacoma Dome Link extension project.

Comments are due Feb. 10, 2025.

The DEIS reviews proposed alternatives for the proposed light-rail alignment and four stations planned in South Federal Way, Fife, Portland Avenue and Tacoma Dome, Sound Transit officials said in a press release. The project calls for adding nearly 10 miles of mostly elevated light-rail tracks between Federal Way and Tacoma.

The DEIS documents the project’s potential impacts on the environment and proposes ways to avoid or reduce those impacts. Sound Transit's board will consider the DEIS before confirming or modifying the preferred alternative for the extension.
