Sound Transit to host public meetings on Tacoma Link expansion

Sound Transit will hold an open house and several drop-in sessions this week and next to solicit public comments on possible alternatives for expanding the Tacoma Link system.

The meetings will be conducted as part of an alternatives analysis to review citizen feedback and options for expanding the 1.6-mile Tacoma Link system that now runs between the Tacoma Dome and Theater District stations, Sound Transit officials said in a prepared statement.

In addition to an open house on Dec. 5, the drop-in sessions will offer informal opportunities for residents to hear updates on the alternatives analysis process, review corridor options and provide feedback, they said.

The Tacoma Link expansion was approved by voters in 2008 as part of the Sound Transit 2 ballot measure. ST2 includes funding for a partnership to expand the link, and Sound Transit is seeking federal dollars and exploring options for securing additional funding partners for the expansion, agency officials said.
