South Florida RTA elects chair, vice chair

The South Florida Regional Transportation Authority board recently elected Josephus Eggelletion chairman and Jeff Koons, vice chairman. Both will serve one-year terms.
A Broward County Commissioner, Eggelletion joined the commission in 2000. He served as Broward County mayor in 2007 and vice mayor in 2006. Prior to joining the county commission, Eggelletion served as a member of the Florida House of Representatives for eight years. He also is a member of the Metropolitan Planning Organization and has championed transit-oriented corridors and regional transportation projects.
A Palm Beach County Commissioner, Koons was elected to the county commission in 2002 and re-elected in 2006. He previously served as SFRTA's chairman in 2005-06. Koons has been focusing on obtaining dedicated funding for regional transportation.
