The South Florida Regional Transportation Authority's (SFRTA) engineering and construction and operations departments have received the Davis Productivity Team Award of Distinction from the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) for their efforts to reduce construction time on the Miami Central Station project.

The new Tri-Rail Station at Miami International Airport is scheduled to open in April 2014.

"This project has been a collaboration of many SFRTA departments to ensure that our passengers can safely and efficiently get to Miami International Airport, while cutting down construction time at the Miami Intermodal Center and enabling a multi-billion-dollar savings for FDOT," said Joseph Giulietti, SFRTA's executive director, in a prepared statement.

Meanwhile, Florida Gov. Rick Scott appointed Jim Scott to the SFRTA's board. Jim Scott was first appointed to the agency's board in January 2005 and became chairman in July 2006.
