State funds in flux for St. Louis Metro

Earlier this month, Missouri House Budget Committee Chairman Allen Icet introduced a bill that allocated $20 million to St. Louis Metro to help the agency restore massive service reductions Metro implemented on March 30. Now, the funds are in jeopardy.
Last week, Icet announced the budget committee plans to "redirect their plan for the state of Missouri to spend federal stabilization/stimulus funds," according to Metro. A new bill does not currently include transit funding for Metro.
"With this unexpected turn of events, Metro will be unable to restore access to jobs, schools, businesses and transit services for the elderly and disabled," Metro officials said in a statement.
