Sumitomo to build people mover at Dulles
advertisement
Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority recently awarded Sumitomo Corporation of America a $200 million contract to design and construct an Automated People Mover (APM) at Washington Dulles International Airport.
Sumitomo also is responsible for vehicle delivery, and will be working with Mitsubishi Heavy Industries to supply and build the APM.
The planned system will have four stations, and trains will operate on rubber wheels under ground for about two miles. When complete, the system would connect the main terminal with Concourse A, B and C.
The project is scheduled to be complete in 2008, at which time Sumitomo will assume responsibility for its operations and maintenance for five years.
