The Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) recently placed a $122.7 million order with a Bombardier Transportation-ALSTOM consortium to manufacture 30 IC-Bt steering cars and 21 IC-2000 second-class cars, and refurbish 16 IC-2000 dining cars.
As consortium leader, Bombardier’s contract share is $109.8 million; ALSTOM’s, $12.9 million.
Bombardier plans to produce the double-deck and steering cars at its Pratteln, Switzerland, facility; the company’s Dunakesi, Hungary, plant will complete the dining-car modernization program. ALSTOM plans to supply bogies from its Neuhausen, Switzerland, plant.
The steering cars are scheduled to be delivered between April 2004 and February 2005; the IC-2000 double-deck cars, between December 2003 and June 2004.
