advertisement
Yesterday, federal, state and local officials yesterday opened the T. F. Green Airport Interlink facility in Warwick, R.I.
Later this year, the intermodal station will accommodate Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) commuter-rail trains traveling between Providence and Warwick, R.I., and Boston. When the Wickford Junction station opens in late 2011, MBTA will extend service from the airport to North Kingstown, R.I.
The facility features a 1,200-foot-long skywalk that connects the station and airport, as well as a consolidated rental car facility.
The $267 million project was funded in part through a $124.6 million Federal Highway Administration grant, as well as a $42 million loan from the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Transportation Infrastructure Finance and Innovation Act program.
