The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is extending the face mask requirement for individuals across all U.S. transportation networks — including at airports and on planes, commuter-rail systems and buses — through Jan. 18, 2022.
In January, the TSA announced the initial face mask requirement with an expiration date of May 11. On April 30, the administration extended the face mask requirement through Sept. 13.
All commuters and travelers should check with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention website for additional guidance. The face mask requirement is exempted for travelers under the age of 2 and those with certain disabilities. Civil fines remain in place for violators, TSA officials said in a news release.
