On June 9, the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) will begin work to improve accessibility at Chester Station.
With fewer riders using the station due to the COVID-19 pandemic, TTC will close the station for two weeks, saving weeks of construction time, commission officials said in a press release.
The closure will allow TTC to open station elevators and a pedestrian walkway ahead of schedule. Crews will also complete concrete restoration work at the main entrance of the station.
This work is part of the TTC’s Easier Access Program to make subway stations accessible. At this time, 46 subway stations are accessible with full system accessibility targeted for 2025, TTC officials said.
