Griffon Corp. subsidiary Telephonics Corp. recently signed $11 million in follow-on contracts with Bombardier Transportation and Kawasaki Rail Car Inc. to use the company’s communications multiplexing and network controller products in New York City Transit’s R142 and R142A subway cars.

The communications systems comprise a database of stations and train stopping patterns, and are designed to automatically advise riders (audibly and visually) about current station stop, next stop and special messages.
