Texas DOT seeks public feedback on passenger-rail study

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is soliciting public comments through April 26 on a range of proposed passenger-rail service options in an 850-mile corridor between Oklahoma City and south Texas.
The Texas-Oklahoma Rail Study will evaluate the corridor as a whole, as well as three distinct portions: Oklahoma City to Dallas/Fort Worth; Dallas/Fort Worth to San Antonio; and San Antonio to Rio Grande Valley/Corpus Christi/Laredo, TxDOT officials said in a post on the agency's website.
Department officials are gathering input on three topics: the purpose and need for the study; the range of intercity passenger-rail alternatives to be studied in an environmental impact statement; and environmental resources that could be affected by the proposed rail alternatives.
The Oklahoma Department of Transportation is a partner in the study, which also will consider input from transit service providers, railroads, metropolitan planning organizations, cities, counties and other community members.
