This month, the Denton County Transportation Authority (DCTA) plans to begin testing its trains, signals and communications equipment on the northern section of the A-train corridor, including the cities of Hickory Creek, Lake Dallas, Corinth and Denton, Texas.
Vehicle and equipment testing is the first phase of operations in preparation for revenue service of DCTA’s regional rail system in late June, DCTA officials said in a prepared statement. DCTA completed testing in Lewisville, Texas, in April.
“Seeing the A-train running up and down the rail corridor shows that we are close to opening our service to the public,” said Vice President of Rail Development Tom LeBeau.
DCTA continues training its operational crew in the southern section and will extend that training north of Lewisville Lake after systems testing is completed, officials said.
The A-train will connect with Dallas Area Rapid Transit’s Green Line and provide service to five Denton County stations. DCTA’s contract operator is Herzog Transit Services.
