TransLink over the weekend continued making upgrades at the Commercial-Broadway SkyTrain Station in Vancouver, British Columbia.

The agency ran trains on a single track around the work area to make way for construction crews. TransLink will single-track trains again on Sept. 30.

The project includes construction of a pedestrian walkway over East Broadway; the addition of another platform for Expo Line trains; and construction of two new elevators and four escalators. Crews also will expand the Broadway concourse and widen station entrances.

The improvements are aimed at ensuring TransLink addresses the region's population growth, agency officials said in a press release.

In 2009, TransLink completed the first phase of upgrades to the Commercial-Broadway Station. That initial stage included building a new 10th Avenue entrance, relocating the elevator and adding glass walls at the ground level.
