TransLink announced plans to partner with Evo Car Share, Modo Cooperative and Mobi by Shaw Go to help make multimodal travel more simple, convenient and seamless for riders. The partners will assess and explore how they can provide riders the convenience of bundled mobility services, TransLink officials said in a press release. Last year, TransLink conducted an "open innovation call" to invite individuals, entrepreneurs, academics and industry insiders to present ideas on the future of mobility in the Vancouver, British Columbia, region. The agency received 90 submissions, which were evaluated and selected by an internal panel."We've heard from people throughout metro Vancouver that they want more options to get around the region, and we believe this partnership creates an opportunity to explore how we help do that," said TransLink Chief Executive Officer Kevin Desmond. The partners aim to provide more first-mile, last-mile trip solutions, said Laura Beattie, manager of special projects and customer service for Mobi by Shaw Go, a bike share company."This partnership showcases our joint commitment to shaping the future of mobility," she said. The open innovation call is a part of the larger mobility initiative to examine broader transportation trends and better understand evolving rider demands and travel patterns, TransLink officials said.To learn how several transit agencies are trying to tackle first-and-last mile challenges, read this feature from Progressive Railroading’s July 2018 issue.
