National Railroad Passenger Corp. (Amtrak) Jan. 10 appointed Cedestra Jordan general manager of safety and environmental control for the Northeast Corridor (NEC).

Jordan, whose transportation experience includes line management positions at Norfolk Southern Railway and Federal Railroad Administration, also is a former FRA deputy regional administrator and trial attorney.

Most recently, she provided management, legal, consulting and safety regulatory services in freight and passenger transportation matters through Jordan Consulting Group.

At Amtrak, Jordan will be responsible for developing safety and environmental assessments and policy throughout the region.

"These initiatives are vital to enhancing guest and employee safety improvements, high-speed rail performance, and environmental compliance and public health programs," said NEC President Stan Bagley in a prepared statement.
