Tri-County Commuter Rail Authority recently awarded a $53 million contract to Washington Group International Inc. to design and build a bridge across the New River’s south fork in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
The 3,700-foot-long bridge is designed to run parallel to an existing railroad bridge that serves freight and commuter traffic. The project also includes constructing 2,400 feet of approaches and grading 3,100 feet.
The New River Bridge project is part of Tri-Rail’s Double-Track Program for the South Florida Rail Corridor.
