Last month, the South Florida Regional Transportation Authority's (SFRTA) Tri-Rail service achieved the highest on-time performance in its 29-year history.

During the month, a record 96.6 percent of all trains arrived at their final destination within five minutes of their scheduled time, SFRTA officials said in a press release.

This exceeds the SFRTA board's stated goal of operating a minimum 90 percent of trains on time.

The achievement comes a year after the start of Herzog Transit Services Inc.'s $511 million contract to operate the 72-mile Tri-Rail system.
