Tri-Rail ridership in first-quarter 2025 rose 2% to an average of 385,000 passengers per month compared to the same period in 2024, when the Florida commuter railroad first reported a full ridership recovery from the pandemic.

Operated by the South Florida Regional Transportation Authority, Tri-Rail trains have been averaging 15,000 weekday daily riders since 2024, with weekend service of an average of 8,000 riders on Saturdays and 7,000 on Sundays in Q1, Tri-Rail officials said in a press release.

Airport travel is a major driver of Tri-Rail growth, with the Miami Airport and Fort Lauderdale Airport stations being the first and third busiest stations for the system, Tri-Rail officials said in a press release. Metrorail Transfer Station is the second busiest, where passengers can connect to Miami’s Metrorail system.

Ridership on Tri-Rail's express train between MiamiCentral and West Palm Beach averaged 450 round-trip passengers per day in Q1 2025. That service opened in July 2024.
