Tri-Rail posts second-highest passenger count

The South Florida Regional Transportation Authority once again has posted a new "second-highest ridership day" on its Tri-Rail commuter-rail system. On Sept. 18, the agency carried 17,241 riders.
The No. 1 total remains 18,452 on June 23, 2006, the day of the Miami Heat NBA Championship celebration parade.
So far in September, Tri-Rail has averaged more than 16,000 passengers each weekday.
