Like many transit agencies, the South Florida Regional Transportation Authority (SFRTA) is continuing down the ridership-growth path. In April, the agency posted a 28.2 percent ridership increase on its Tri-Rail commuter-rail system compared with ridership recorded in April 2007. Average daily ridership totaled 14,391.

And yesterday, the system carried 15,504 passengers, making it one of the highest ridership days on record and marking the ninth day in 2008 that ridership exceeded 15,000.

When the final monthly ridership count is in today, SFRTA officials believe it will exceed March’s monthly ridership record of 348,997.
