The fare hike, the first in 10 years, will vary based on trip length. Overall, there will be a less than 10 percent change in fares, SFRTA officials said in a press release.
A full-price monthly pass, for example, will rise from $100 to $110, which translates to $1.83 a day to ride.
The revenue generated by the increase will cover higher costs for rail-car maintenance, fuel, train operations, ticketing systems, technology improvements and other system improvements, SFRTA officials said.
