TriMet gears up to open new station in Gresham
advertisement
Earlier this week, the Tri-County Metropolitan Transportation District of Oregon (TriMet) began testing light-rail trains at the new Civic Drive Station in Gresham. Located on the Blue Line, the station is set to open Dec. 1.
The agency broke ground on the facility in May. The $3 million project is being funded by TriMet and the Federal Transit Administration. The city of Gresham will contribute $600,000 for a future plaza adjacent to the station that also will serve as a pedestrian connection between the station and future development.
Plans for the station have been in the works since 1997, but TriMet was waiting until there was enough development and density in the Gresham area to support the facility, according to a prepared statement.
