The Tri-County Metropolitan Transportation District of Oregon (TriMet) in July registered 8.5 million riders on its MAX light-rail, WES commuter-rail and bus services, a 2 percent year-over-year increase.
Ridership on MAX and WES lines rose in all categories, TriMet officials said in a prepared statement. Weekday trips on WES soared 16.5 percent to 1,620 riders, while MAX Green Line weekday ridership jumped 15.5 percent to 23,900 riders compared with July 2010 figures.
Ridership during rush hour periods rose 2.5 percent on all modes, but bus ridership was flat, TriMet officials said.
