TriMet to raise parkway grade as part of Portland-Milwaukie light-rail project

Today, the Tri-County Metropolitan Transportation District of Oregon (TriMet) will begin to raise the grade of Naito Parkway where it will cross the light-rail alignment in downtown Portland as part of the Portland-Milwaukie Light Rail Transit (LRT) project.
The 12-week construction project involves increasing the grade to three feet at its highest point, creating a gradual rise in the parkway so that it will intersect the light-rail alignment about 200 feet south of Harrison Street. The project calls for placing light-rail tracks from 1st Avenue to Naito to connect them to the harbor transit structure, TriMet officials said in a prepared statement.
The 7.3-mile light-rail line, the region's sixth MAX construction to be built, will extend from the terminus of the MAX Green and Yellow lines at Portland State University in downtown Portland to South Waterfront, Southeast Portland, Milwaukie and North Clackamas County.
