Tri-County Metropolitan Transportation District of Oregon (TriMet) General Manager Fred Hansen has announced that after 11 years in the post, he will be leaving the agency when his contract ends June 30.
Hansen is “considering several opportunities to promote greener technology in the transportation field and furthering the connections among land use, transportation and climate change in the regional, national and global arenas,” he said in a prepared statement.
Among his accomplishments: Opening three light rail lines and beginning the planning and design for a fourth; expanding employment of minorities and women, as well as their participation in all construction projects; and helping TriMet become the first transit agency chosen by Google to develop Google Transit Maps, Hansen said.
