Twin Cities' Metro Transit adds Wi-Fi to Northstar trains

Metro Transit now offers free Wi-Fi service on all Northstar commuter trains.

The Twin Cities' transit agency made the service available earlier this month. Each train's cab car will be marked inside and outside to designate it as the location for the Wi-Fi access, Metro Transit officials said in a press release.

"Due to the longer distances traveled on commuter rail, Northstar service is a great match for Wi-Fi," said Metro Transit General Manager Brian Lamb.

The 40-mile Northstar route operates six trips during morning and afternoon rush hours each weekday between Big Lake, Minn., and Target Field in Minneapolis. The service also operates on weekends and for special events.
