Two former Utah Transit Authority (UTA) attorneys recently joined law firm Spahr Andrews & Ingersoll L.L.P.’s Salt Lake City office.

Kathryn Pett, who formerly served as UTA's secretary and general counsel, has joined the firm as a partner and will head up the newly formed Passenger Rail Infrastructure Group. While with UTA, Pett led negotiations with Union Pacific Railroad and other freight railroads. She's also represented passenger-rail systems before federal administrations, agencies and boards.

Bart Simmons, who formerly served UTA as senior corporate counsel, joins Spahr Andrews' Public Finance Department. He has served as counsel for several major light-rail development projects and one major commuter-rail development project, and represented public and private clients in government contracting-related cases.
