• France’s SNCF has placed a $180 million order with Alstom Transport for an additional 23 Régiolis regional trains. This order is part of a contract signed in October 2009. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in 2013 and conclude in mid-2015.
• Engineering firm Michael J. Baker Jr. Inc. was awarded a 40-month, $2.3 million contract from Amtrak to provide construction management/construction inspection services for two new rail yard facilities in downtown Seattle.
• Rail.One announced that Richard Ziegler will leave the company and concrete tie industry. President and Chief Executive Officer Ralf Sobottka will assume Ziegler’s strategic project responsibilities.
• Knorr Bremse Group announced it’s anticipating moderate growth in 2010 after posting $3.7 billion in consolidated sales in 2009. Consolidated sales for 2008 totaled $4.5 billion.
• Pierre Vilain has joined HDR’s economics and finance practice as vice president and will lead the practice in New York. Previously, Vilain was vice president at Halcrow Inc.
• Moffatt & Nichol announced that Pierce Homer has joined the firm as transportation director. Before joining Moffatt & Nichol, he was Virginia’s transportation secretary.
