• Parsons Brinckerhoff (PB) was awarded a contract to design mechanical/electrical services for Singapore’s Downtown Line Stages 2 rapid-transit system expansion. The project involves the construction of 10.5 miles of underground tunnels with 12 stations serving northwest Singapore. PB is responsible for designing the transit environmental control system, electrical system, fire protection system and station architectural lighting. The firm also will provide mechanical/electrical design of civil defense facilities for seven stations. Construction is scheduled for completion in 2015.

• Parsons Transportation Group Inc. (PTG) appointed Garold Adams executive vice president and global business development manager. He joined Parsons in 1991 and has held a succession of positions with increasing responsibilities, including manager of PTG’s transportation operations sector, manager of the road and highway division’s western United States sector, manager of PTG’s Southern California operations and office manager for a former Parsons subsidiary. His most recently served as senior vice president and manager for the road and highway division.

• Safetran Systems Corp., an Invensys Rail company, appointed Glenn Sieja vice president, projects and engineering. He’s responsible for the strategic direction and daily management of Safetran’s transit project and application engineering organizations in North America and overseas. Sieja has extensive experience in design and application engineering, program management and general management in the automotive and utility industries.

• Canadian Pacific has signed up for e-VERIFILE.COM Inc.’s e-RAILSAFE Canada’s workplace safety/security management service. CP now will require its contractors/vendors and their employees that require access to CP’s Canadian-based properties to participate in compliance programs that the Class I creates and administers via the ERS-Canada system. The compliance program includes personnel screening, safety and security awareness, and the issuance of workplace identification badges.

• WAGO Corp. is celebrating its 30th anniversary this month. Established 1979 in a suburban Milwaukee office by one employee, WAGO now operates out of a 75,000-square-foot manufacturing complex in Germantown, Wis., and employs 143. WAGO is the North American subsidiary of Minden, Germany’s WAGO Kontakttechnik GmbH & Co. KG. The company provides spring pressure connection technology that is designed to eliminate loose wires resulting from vibration and temperature cycling while providing “highly reliable, corrosion-resistant and maintenance-free connections,” according to a prepared statement.
